Extra Curricular Activities
Students are given extra opportunities to develop their interests and skills. The music programme provides for the teaching of a wide range of instruments. Speech lessons are offered to all students at a subsidised cost. Accreditation is given for these lessons and they may be continued on through high school. Drama is also a recognised programme at the school. Students are taught various forms of Drama and at the end of their unit they are all involved in a performance. Students are also given the opportunity to compete in cultural events such as the Townsville Eisteddfod and Cultural Fest.
The Sports programme is designed to develop both physical skills as well as good sportsmanship. Students from Grade 5 upwards compete against other schools in sports such as soccer, netball, hockey and cross country running at various times in the year. In the hotter months, they participate in indoor sports such as ten-pin bowling and indoor cricket to avoid the extreme heat of the summer season. Students also take part in both Inter-house and Inter-school Athletics and Swimming Carnivals.
Life at the school continues long after the final bell. A wide variety of activities takes place which provides an opportunity for developing new skills and extending talents. Among those programmed at present are:
Dance, Choirs, Art, Prayer Groups, Swimming Club, Speech preparing for productions and musicals, , Homework Programme and extra tutoring in selected subjects.
Students during senior years also have the opportunity to gain licences and certifications in boating, driver education, coaching in a variety of sports, and senior first aid.
