Environment

The College aims to be a Christian community.  Our students are expected to maintain a Christian standard of living, to take full advantage of the educational opportunities afforded them and to adhere to the guidelines set down for them.  Breaches of these expectations will lead to firm but fair corrective measures.  The result is a safe and caring environment with well disciplined classes, conducive to learning.  A synopsis of the behavioural management policy is available to parents on request.

CLASS STRUCTURES

The school commences with Kindergarten and continues through to Year 12 and is structured along ability level year guidelines. We do recognise that children have different talents and learn at different rates and every endeavour is made to support and enrich each individual, according to his or her needs.  Learning support is provided to students who need it.  Upon entering the College, students are given a range of tests to determine their strengths and weaknesses.  Students have the opportunity to develop potential through honour and enrichment programmes.  Students have also enjoyed success in Queensland and Australia-wide Education Competitions.

REPORTING

A student’s progress through the College is monitored very carefully.  Students are given standardised tests in reading, mathematics and spelling.  We also participate in government benchmark testing for grades 3, 5, 7 and 9.  Students are tested at the end of each quarter and a written report is sent home at the end of each semester.  Parent/Teacher interviews are conducted twice a year and communication with parents is encouraged at all times.
